Chapter 4 Everything bad

There is a man wearing a traffic wardens uniform by the door of the elevator which appears from nowhere, segun is shocked to see the lift. He leaves the sliding door knowing he can’t open it anymore and walks towards the elevator to ask the warden some questions. As he gets close to the man he noticing something pulling him, like a type of force he has never felt before, his body was out of his control soon he found himself walking into the lift even though he tried his best not to enter. 

The warden enters the lift with him, turns around and looks at segun the man smiles and presses number 7 in the elevator. Segun stands quiet in the lift as though he was in a trance or a zombie, he knew it was his body but for the first time in his life he had no control, he just felt like he was trapped inside a box. 

The only thing he had now were his thoughts, he pondered deep in his mind “what is going on, I've lost control of my body, who is this man and where is he taking me too” he kept rambling in his mind as different thoughts popped up, he had a strong feeling he was going to die, “I guess this is the end, I wish I could see my family one last time”.

The warden turns around and looks at him with a smile on his face as if he had heard seguns thoughts, he tried again to see if he could talk but nothing he had lost the ability to control his own very body, “can you hear me, please help me” seguns talked in his mind hoping the warden would understand or hear him, the warden smiled again as if he understood the message segun was trying to pass through. 

They get to the seventh floor and the doors open and again segun walks out of the elevator against his own will, he walks into a very dark corridor the lift closes behind him. As soon as the doors of the lift are shut he regains control of his body and is able to speak, he screams at the top of his voice as he tries to open the elevator doors shouting for help. 

He hears voices some seconds later which seem to be coming from the end of the corridor which is as dark as night. Suddenly the lights come on and the entire corridor is lithe, at the end of the corridor is a red door and seems to be where the voices are coming from, “hello hello” he asks if anyone could hear him there is no response. He walk down to the door and opens it, as he tries to open it there is a loud sound of a bell ringing, he is scared but opens the door anyway, as he walks into the room he sees a family having dinner on the dining table. 

There is soft music playing in the room, he stands at the door and observes them for a few seconds “hello” nobody replies him the family continues with their dinner as if they didn’t hear him, he then shuts the door really hard there is a loud sound of a bell clock, it rings 3 times same way the clock would ring if it was 3 o clock. 

Suddenly everybody on the table turns around like zombies to look at segun whose hand is still on the door knob, the people having dinner appear to be his family members but segun is shocked because until the moment they turned around he didn’t recognise anyone of them, it was as if there was a sudden switch and his family appeared there out of the blue. “segun we have been waiting for you join us” his dad says, he is still in a state of shock and stares at all of them as if he had seen a ghost, “come and sit-down your food will be cold” his mother says, his brother immediately pulls him a chair and smiles weird at him. 

He goes to the table and takes a sit but he doesn’t feel comfortable as he senses there is something off about the whole settings.  He just stares at his family members who continue with their meal acting very normal as they would when they normally had dinner. “tunde, where are we” he asks his brother who ignores him and continues eating, he asks his sister the same question who is sitting opposite to him but he gets the same response he then looks at his mum and dad who are really focused on their meal, then his mom looks at him suddenly, she stares for a few seconds then says “segun you know it’s bad manners to talk while eating, eat your food”.

 He begins to feel nervous because of his family’s strange behavior  then a phone rings they all stop eating and drop their cutlery slowly as they all look in the direction where the phone is, seguns dad picks the phone after letting it ring for a few seconds. He puts the phone to his ear but says nothing he just stares at segun in a very scary way, the rest of the family members are looking at dad. 

Segun begins to feel uneasy with their strange behavior and looks at his dad who keeps staring at him then his dad takes the phone away from his ear and asks segun “  did you tell your mother lies about your brother because you felt she loved him more” segun surprised “what I…… I didn't”  he puts the phone to his ear again still looking at segun while the others are still looking at dad, he drops the phone from his ear again and asks “ did you pray to God to turn your sister blind because she got a car before you did” he asks again  “ dad come on” segun replies but he looks guilty and starts feeling very uncomfortable in his mind he started wondering how his dad knew all this things which where only known to him segun, his dad continues with the same pattern and asks “ did you once break your mother’s car keys  because she didn’t allow you to go out” segun feeling guilty gets up from his chair and runs to where his dad is sitting and grabs the phone from him “hello hello, who is this” he asks but the only sound he can hear coming from the phone is that of white noise, he then looks at his dad and the rest of his family who are all staring at him, he takes a look at his dads bowl and sees what looks like blood in it with eyes and fingers floating on the surface,  he opens his mouth in shock then lifts his head up to look at his family who are all still staring at him, suddenly the light in the room begins to fluctuate as this occurs he notices that the faces and clothes of his family members change for a few seconds where they are all wearing red and their faces is covered in black and white paint, then they change back to their previous form.

 He screams as he heads to the door which is locked the light in the room continues fluctuating, he turns around and sees his dad, brother and sister all standing side to side on the wall opposite him, he screams for help and tries with all his strength to open the door, but he can’t he turns around again to see them just behind him as if they had teleported.

He screams as he sees them move right in front of him, it appeared as if they disappeared and appeared within a few seconds, he is backing the door and looking terrified, he begins to beg his dad, brother and sister, who don’t appear to be themselves anymore as they look possessed.

 They crab him and pin him to the wall he tries to fight them but is not strong enough he cries and pleads with them, “am sorry, am sorry, am not perfect am sorry” then his mum who was seated on the table while this was happening crabs a knife from the table and runs towards him, as she approaches him her face changes as her eyes go completely white, still the light continues fluctuating. Segun screams “mum please, mummy please”   she stabs him in the heart, he screams in pain as the lights in the room goes off, he shouts really loud.
