Chapter 2  Lies

The darkness soon disappears and the space is back to its previous state just white and empty, the young man is squatting in front of the door with his heads between his legs shaking uncontrollable he lifts his head realizing its bright again tears dropping from his eyes, he hears a sound coming from behind the door the place he just came out from, he hears a little boys voice calling for help. 

The sound is a bit faint as the young man wipes his face and puts his ears to the door to hear better as his ears touch the door he hears the little boys voice really close as if whispering directly into his ears, the young man leans away from the door in fear then tries to listen again but there is nothing no sound. He gets up and tries to open the door it opens this time around and the room is different from the way he left it, the room now looks like a living room with two chairs a center table and a small tv showing a scrabbled channel with white noise. 

There is a little boy sitting on one of the chairs with a remote control in his hands changing the channels but they are all scrambled the young man is shocked to see the little boy who looks a little bit weird he is scared as the little boy takes a look at him just for a few seconds and continues changing the channels and remains focused on the tv set as if he was in a trance. The young man tries to talk to the boy asking him questions. “What are you doing here little boy” he asks, “do you know where we are” the boy doesn't respond he just remains focused on the tv set. 

The young man is scared but needs to get some answers and this little boy was all he had, he takes a sit close to the boy as he tries to touch the boy the door slams, making a really loud sound. He jumps in terror on hearing that and turns around to see the door closed as he looks around to see who had slammed the door the little boy taps him on the laps he jumps with fear again then realizes it’s the little boy, the boy stares at him as if the young man was mad or delusional. “Sorry about that, I don’t know how I got here……..”  As he continues to talk the little boy turns his face back to the tv the young man then turns to the tv after hearing a sound. There is a girl sitting in a chair he looks at the boy then back at the tv “who is this” he asks, the little boy remains quiet he takes a good look at the girl in the tv and she seems like a face he had seen before, he takes another look at the little boy who still remains focused on the tv. 

The young man then stands up and goes close to the tv to take a closer look, he turns back and looks at the little boy who remains the same. As he gets close to the tv and takes a good look “linda!!!” it’s someone he knows. He turns around to look at the boy but he is not there anymore the room changes to the same room he was just looking at in the tv. He sees Linda sitting in a chair, “linda linda, is that you” she smiles at him “segun”’   she says. “Omg it’s really you linda, thank God I was really scared” he gets up and walks towards linda who is holding a phone and looking at it as if she was watching something. He sits beside her takes a look at the phone which is blank and she looks at him and smiles.  

Linda is seguns girlfriend; she seems different to segun as he asks her “what are you doing here dear”” “do you know where we are”. She turns to him and just smiles, segun is shocked as this lady is definitely not acting like the linda he had known for years there was something different about her like she was a robot or zombie. “Linda are you ok why are you acting weird answer me” he grabs her by the arm then she turns to him and says “am I your one and only” segun is shocked at her response to all his questions, he takes a few seconds before he answers “yes my love only you, tell me what’s happening”   she looks at him then smiles she asked the same question a second and third time each time turning back to the phone after asking the question. 

Segun gets a bit frustrated “baby ive answered you its only you. What’s going on” he continues to talk to her but there is no response all she does is watch the phone then she begins to giggle, segun getting a bit irritated grabs the phone from her hand to see what’s fascinating about a blank screen as he looks at the phone there is a video playing of him with another girl, the video shows segun with another girl in a restaurant eating ice-cream and the kissing. He drops the phone out of fear after seeing the video and stands up shaking. Linda turns to him and says “I thought I was your one and only you lied to me” she stands up and picks the phone and begins to laugh continuously. 

Segun looks scared and short of words linda sits down but is backing segun she continues to laugh segun just stands confused looking round the room, he takes a deep breath then walks to linda “am sorry baby I can explain” she stops laughing as he taps her on the shoulder and tries to squat beside her. She bows her head and begins to cry repeating the words “ you lied to me” segun who is kneeling beside her tries to comfort her and apologies “my love I swear I can explain”  he tries to lift her head but she resist the first time then he tries again “ baby am sorry just give me a chance to explain”.  She stops crying and is quiet for some seconds segun is still mumbling some words and has started crying again, she lifts her head up slowly and turns to segun who is kneeling to her left, as she turns her face to him segun screams as her face looks totally different and her voice changed she says “explain what” but her voice sounds like an angry mans own, there is blood on her face and her face is pale and white. Segun screams really loud as he is shocked to see the change in lindas face and voice.

Moments later he opens his eyes to find himself back in the living room sitting on the chair with the remote in his hand but the little boy is gone. He tries to catch his breath after the horror he just witnessed he is dazed and acts like someone who just awoke from a bad dream, he looks at the tv which is back to the scrambled channel the only sound in the room is the white noise coming out of the tv. He sits up and looks around the room and calls out for linda but all he hears is his echo.  

The sound of an opening door grabs his attention, he turns around and looks at the door which is ajar suddenly the sound from the tv is really loud he turns and tries to reduce the volume but the remote has stopped working he uses his hands to cover his ear as he cries and looks hopeless. The sound goes on for a few more seconds, then segun stands up and tries to turn the tv off, he looks for the plug of the tv and takes it out of the socket but the tv wont go off. Frustrated he screams at the top of his voice, “help me” he tries again to use the remote to reduce the volume and switch the tv off but there is no change, out of anger he throws the remote on the wall smashing it, immediately this happens the tv goes off. 

Then there is soft music playing coming from the other side of the door, segun turns around and looks at the door, he takes a few seconds to try and establish where the music is coming from as soon as he realises it’s from behind the door he gets up and heads towards the door shouting “ is anyone there”.
